Chishakwe is a game ranch in the huge Save Valley Conservancy in the South East Lowveld of Zimbabwe.

The Save Valley is one of the largest Wildlife Conservancies in Africa. It was established almost twenty years ago when farmers realised that the area was not suitable for farming. They took down all the fences on their land and between them and formed a big wildlife park. Nowadays the area is very wild with beautiful scenery and there are lots of different plants and animals which are indigenous to the area. The members of the Conservancy work hard to look after the bush and protect the animals.
Chishakwe has several different habitats which means that lots of different kinds of animals can live there. Even though we have the famous Big 5 animals on Chishakwe we do not consider them more important than any of the other animals and we encourage our guests to be interested in even the smallest of animals such as dung beetles.
Guests who come to Chishakwe can stay at our River Camp. It is called the River Camp because it overlooks the Msaize River. The thatched chalets are set in a lovely shady lawn area and there is a swimming pool for hot days (it can get very hot in the Lowveld in summer!). It is really wonderful to sit around the fire at night and listen to the noises of the African bushveld.
